This program is quite a good example of a simple application, but a very good one. When I say simple, I do not mean poor, but easy to use and very well purpose oriented.

The interface is cute and allows you to join video files within a few clicks. You can add a batch of files and the program will merge them into a single AVI (DivX or Xvid) file. Depending of the installed codec packages, you can choose from a larger or smaller variety of codecs in order to encode your media files. As for the output files, you can select their resolution, frame rate, video and audio compressor. The program has an inbuilt previewing tool which allows you to take a last look at the video files you are about to join.

Pluses: Using an open compression system for video and audio, the program can merge MPEG (MPG), VCD, AVI, ASF, WMV files which can have different frame rates, frame sizes and encoding parameters.

Another plus is the fact that you can choose a transition effect to be inserted between the two merged files. There are dozens of transition effects to choose from or you can select a random effect. As for the transitions' options, you can only choose the duration.

Drawbacks / flaws: The problem which occurred a couple of times was that when I added more than two files in order to join them and I wanted to preview each one, the program played only the file on the top of the list.

In conclusion: Despite a bug or two, it is a very good and reliable program which gives you the opportunity of collating different files into a single video production.
